About Bute Blacksmiths
Bute Blacksmiths is one of Scotland’s longest-established steel fabrication companies renowned for producing outstanding quality, owned and run by the brothers who started the business, between them they have over 80 years of experience. Our skilled team can take on any commercial or domestic steel construction project within the UK.
We operate an extensive workshop which houses all of our own specialist plant, ranging from plasma cutters to drills, punches, guillotines and various types of welding plant. The workshop also has overhead lifting capacity and have a fleet of vehicles including our Lorry HIAB with crane to complement our services.
Thanks to decades of experience in all aspects of the steel industry and construction, Bute Blacksmiths is able to offer a varied range of steel fabrication services. From initial drawings and concepts, we are able to help guide your project to final delivery and installation.

Our Blacksmith Services
What is a Blacksmith?
Blacksmithing is an art form that has been around for thousands of years. Despite technological advances, the traditional methods used by blacksmiths are still an essential part of the role.
These methods are:
Heating – most metal should be heated above 760°C in order to be able to manipulate the metal.
Forging – most modern forges are fuelled by propane and used as a cost-effective way to heat the metal.
Torching – used to cut or heat specific areas on a material, generally used for aesthetic improvements.
Quenching Bucket – used to correctly cool the metal after heating by using mineral oils to minimise unintended cracking or warping.
