Our Blacksmith Services
What is a Blacksmith?
Blacksmithing is an art form that has been around for thousands of years. Despite technological advances, the traditional methods used by blacksmiths are still an essential part of the role.
These methods are:
Heating – most metal should be heated above 760°C in order to be able to manipulate the metal.
Forging – most modern forges are fuelled by propane and used as a cost-effective way to heat the metal.
Torching – used to cut or heat specific areas on a material, generally used for aesthetic improvements.
Quenching Bucket – used to correctly cool the metal after heating by using mineral oils to minimise unintended cracking or warping.
